Is there a huge element of luck in any content going viral? Yes!
Yet, I’m sure most of us agree with the adage, “The harder I work, the luckier I get.”
By following the tips I’ve listed below, I won’t guarantee you’ll make it on Ellen. However, you will make the most of your content marketing efforts and drive more people to your site/business. Some aspects of the virality of your content are within your control, and it’s these pieces that I’ll talk about in this post.
As for the luck.. We’ll just have to keep our fingers crossed.
1 – Focus Your Message
There is an endless amount of content floating around on the internet today. In order to sustain an on-going following where your posts are getting shared regularly, you need to be aware of what is going on in your field. You don’t necessarily need to be an expert, but stay up to date on news and trends so you’ll stay relevant to your followers.
Don’t confuse focusing your message with writing the same topic every time. If your blog is about photography for example, don’t write about what camera you use and why week after week. Mix it up so you keep readers coming back for more.
2 – Participate in Your Community
There are two parts to this. First, know where your readers live on the internet. What sites are they going to where you can get your blog in front of them? Second, it’s a great idea to get together with fellow bloggers and do guest posts. Again, if you have a photography blog, ask your friend with a wedding blog if you can do a guest post. This builds your credibility in a wider community and increases your following.
3 – Engage Your Readers
It all starts with the title. You probably decided to read this post because you blog, or are thinking about blogging, and you want it to go big. Make sure you entice your readers with an appealing title that matches your informative and engaging article.
4 – Share, Share & Share
Sharing is caring. Care for your blog by telling everyone about it. Make sure you have links to your blog on every social media page and your website. Using a solution like dlvr.it makes it easy to publish your content where and when you want.
Practice makes perfect so keep writing, keep sharing, and stay thirsty my friends.
